Holsworthy, Devon

Claire and Rich

Claire and Rich's beautiful wedding marquee complete with amazing flower garland

A typical case study of a truly real Devon wedding, not a wedding photo-shoot!

Yes, of course we supply wedding marquees in Devon..we live here! (Well, the HQ is here but we also have a base in Bristol where the second in command lives and much of the tent install team and performing team live too)

This fab wedding shouts out as a quintessentially British summer wedding, oozing that rustic, country and boho wedding style!

This was the wedding of Claire and Rich who kindly sent us their photos which were captured by Bristol based wedding photographer Noel Deasington. The photographs look stunning and we love seeing people enjoying a fine Devonshire evening out the front of the marquee.

You might call it a destination wedding as many of the wedding party arrived from the London area to enjoy the rural setting for a countryside wedding.

Once again, they have let nature do the talking with fantastic floral work adding greenery and a beautiful garland to the unlined marquee canvas backdrop. Note that this range of canvas Petal wedding marquees do not require full linings, though small window drapes tastefully positioned can help the styling. ( We have many colours all in fire retardant fabrics). For simple garlands, ivy, hops, garden string and hemp rope can do the thing - go foraging !

As you can see, in fine weather, the sides of the marquee can be rolled up or removed allowing alfresco dining.  Even if you are already outside - bring the outside in!

Sometimes, as marquee suppliers do, wedding venues have a stock of furniture or decorations (and I know this venue has a supply of lovely Indian themed party decorations) there’s not always enough furniture for extended guest numbers, so these rustic trestle tables and folding wooden chairs came from a local supplier. (We can do this for you or leave it to you!)

On this occasion full white table-cloths were used but this is certainly not aways needed and bare wood is lovely as a table feature.  But you do have to be careful about the table condition and if the plan is to show off the wooden surface, make sure suitable trestles are ordered that suit bare wood or simple central runners. Enhance the tablescape with flowers, candlesticks, goblets and other stylish items.

At this wedding, they had use of a party venue in the lovely old village hall that forms part of the complex, so the marquee only played host to the wedding breakfast and speeches; then it was into the party-barn for dancing. The wedding venue complex was The Old Rectory in Pyworthy, near Holsworthy in Devon which also offered guest accommodation and has a history of throwing fabulous parties.   It is local to us and we have had the pleasure of a few weddings there.
